In Yesterday’s Visionaries in Today’s World, Stephen J. Bergstrom gives creative voice to visionary souls in process of awakening.
Through imaginative device, Yesterday’s Visionaries in Today’s World reveals two contrasting visions that shape contemporary existence.
In one, conquerors traverse the world as a series of endless privileges secured through material means and patriarchal oppression.
In the other, conquered and oppressed individuals and groups perceive that consciousness animates nature, humanity and the spirit of a Living Earth.

Acknowledging Queen Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria)
Oh, and an age it was. The Victorian Era when all worked as I worked, the longest reigning female monarch in history, “the grandmother of Europe”, above all that was.
Above Darwin, Freud and Marx, Sir Walter Scott, Emily, Anne, and Charlotte Bronte, Anthony Trollope, George Eliot, Oscar Wilde, Dickens, the Brownings, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, that imaginative Lewis Carroll and Kipling, the Impressionists, the Realists, and the Fauves and the Pre-Raphaelites.
My era, my time when at my Diamond Jubilee in 1897, Britain ruled the world. When carriages of state carried the eleven colonial premiers of Canada, New Zealand, the Cape Colony, Natal, Newfoundland and the six states of Australia in royal procession before me.
When Britain directly ruled more than a quarter of the world’s landmass and through the seas, all that moved.
When in my honor, rode cavalry from every quarter of the globe including the Cape Mounted Rifles, the Canadian Hussars, the New South Wales Lancers, the Trinidad Light Horse, the magnificent turbaned and bearded Lancers of Khapurthala, Badnagar and other Indian states, the Zapatichs of Cyprus in tasseled fezzes on black-maned ponies and dark-skinned infantry regiments, “terrible and beautiful to behold”, the Borneo Dyak Police, the Jamaica Artillery, the Royal Nigerian Constabulary, giant Sikhs from India, Houssas from the Gold Coast, Chinese from Hong Kong, Malays from Singapore, and Riflemen from the West Indies, British Guiana and Sierra Leone.
When Empire was alive and imperial vision in full glory waited upon Thayer’s words to move the Americans.
When no one knew our secret allies, when no one knew the secret treaties and pacts made between us, when no one but our secret brothers knew we would pinch the masses of the world to awaken, that through the iron fist of empire, we would compel them to awaken spiritually and that we would complete the tasks given to us at the commencement of the 4th World and that unfold today.
