Acknowledging Queen Lil’uokalani Lydia Kamekaha
They came across more than two thousand miles of ocean to depose me on Jan 17, 1893.
Hawaii was no longer to be free. The land of song and poetry would become outpost for the United States. As my country’s last monarch, I cried for my people.
Now, this same great force overtakes the world and all peoples and again, I cry.
What songs nestle in their hearts? To whom, do they sing?
I fear to know.
